RTK.my terms of use
For the RTK.my app and our caster caster.rtk.my.
1. What the app does
The RTK.my app turns a phone and a connected GNSS receiver into an RTK reference station (base). It reads corrections (RTCM 3 messages) from the receiver over USB and sends them:
- to our caster caster.rtk.my (after signing in with Google; other devices such as a WiFi NTRIP Master module can connect to it too),
- to other NTRIP casters you set up yourself (e.g. RTK2Go, Emlid Caster or your own),
- optionally to a local caster on the phone for rovers in the same network.
The account is shared with the Změř.to app. For the account, our caster and user content the Změř.to terms of use (in Czech) apply as well, mainly article 4a (Account). Where these terms and the Změř.to terms differ, these terms apply to RTK.my.
2. Base position and accuracy
- We determine the base position. We record the data stream of the base and compute the exact position of the L1 phase centre of its antenna against reference stations and with PPP. The caster inserts the verified position into the stream for rovers (messages 1005/1006, antenna ADVNULLANTENNA) instead of the position from the receiver. A base is verified (within 2 cm), verified with a warning (2–10 cm), not verified or unstable (after a move); until it is verified, the caster passes the position from the receiver unchanged.
- Verification needs at least several hours of data from a place with a good view of the sky. A base behind a window, under trees or next to tall buildings may not pass.
- If you move the base or change the antenna or its height, the caster notices and stops inserting the verified position until it is verified again. Mount the antenna firmly: every movement shifts the measurements of all rovers.
- Entering the antenna type makes the computation more accurate (mainly in height). You are responsible for the antenna details you enter.
- The computation is automatic and we do not guarantee its accuracy. Neither the base nor the app is a measuring instrument under the law, and the corrections are not the result of surveying work. Article 2 of the Změř.to terms applies likewise (measurements are indicative; do not rely on them for decisions with legal or financial consequences).
3. The data stream and its publication
- The data stream of the base contains the exact position of its antenna. Everyone who connects to the base receives it. If the base stands at your home, consider whom you make it available to.
- On our caster you decide whether the base is public. Others see a public base only after its position is verified. You grant us a non-exclusive, free licence to the data stream of the base for recording, computing its position, passing it on to other users, statistics and RINEX files, for as long as the base is on our caster.
- Other casters are run by third parties under their own terms. We are not responsible for their availability, for the publication of your base or for how they handle the data. You are responsible for being allowed to use their login details and mountpoint.
- The local caster opens a network port on the phone. Without a public IP address only devices in the same network can connect. You switch it on at your own risk; give it a password if you share the network with others.
4. Running a base
- A base is meant to run continuously. Expect mobile data use (depending on the receiver settings, tens to hundreds of MB a day per caster), permanent power and a warm phone. You are responsible for operator charges and for the condition of the phone, receiver and power supply.
- Place the antenna and cables so that they endanger nobody, and with the consent of the owner of the place.
- Do not use the base to spread anything other than GNSS corrections, or to overload or get around the rules of casters. We may disconnect or delete a base that breaks these terms or disrupts our caster.
5. Availability and changes
- We provide the app and our caster as they are, free of charge. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, freedom from errors or fitness for a particular purpose. Android may limit or stop the app at any time (battery saving, system updates).
- We may change, update or stop the app and the caster. Some features may be in a test phase.
6. Liability
- We are not liable for damage caused by a wrong position (including one we computed), by an outage of the base or the caster, by third-party services, or by others using corrections from your base.
- This limitation does not apply where the law does not allow it (for example injury to health, or damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence).
7. Data and privacy
How we process personal data is described in the RTK.my privacy policy. You can delete the account with its bases at any time directly in the app (About → Delete account) or as described at rtk.my/en/delete-account.
8. Licences
You may use the app for personal and work purposes in line with these terms. It contains third-party software under open licences (for example Android Jetpack and Kotlin – Apache 2.0, usb-serial-for-android – MIT); the list is in the app under About → Licences.
9. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of the Czech Republic. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection given to you by the mandatory law of your country of residence.
10. Changes to the terms
We may change these terms. We will tell you about substantial changes in the app in advance; if you do not agree with them, you can stop using the app.
11. Provider and contact
The RTK.my app and the caster caster.rtk.my are provided free of charge by Robin Palička, a natural person, Czech Republic ("we"). Questions and complaints: hello@rtk.my, web rtk.my. The Czech version of these terms prevails.
